5 Uncommon Organizing Truths - Who Knew??

Forget common organizing tips and techniques. They really don't create long-lasting results. To get much needed relief, discover uncommon truths... that only a few know.  

1) It's completely normal to have clutter in our fast-paced, ever-changing lives. Most of us do. Even professional organizers have some clutter! It's just a matter of degree — how much clutter you have and how it makes you feel. The advantage professional organizers have is that they have learned how to clear clutter easily, understand why clearing is important, and regulary do so.

2) It's not true that you can get organized and be clutter-clear once and for all. Since change is constant, steadily clearing clutter, in little bits, is an on-going part of managing and organizing your life. Clutter accumulation is not simply about bad habits. A lot of your stuff naturally becomes clutter as your life and interests change.

3) Decluttering is not about getting rid of stuff; it's about deciding what to keep so that you stay comfortable in your home, surrounded by what you currently love and use. Clearing clutter is a way of adapting to the reality of your current life. Why is this important? You strengthen your position in life. When you are no longer emotionally and physically tripping over your clutter, you are able to respond better to life's challenges and joys. The benefits of clutter-clearing and getting orgznized radiate outside of your home.

4) Contrary to popular belief, organizing your life is not the solution to clutter. The solution to clutter is learning how to make good decisions about your stuff — decisions without regret or angst. What you need is clear criteria to decide what to let go, and how. Clearing clutter is the often ignored first step to getting organized. Once your get rid of your clutter, you have more room and less frustraton; getting and staying organized becomes much easier.

5) Many organizing books are misleading because they indicate that tips and techniques, and closets and containers are the answer. They over promise: If you just do this, you will get organized. The media promotes this, and wanting easy answers, the public has come to believe it. Yet, if this was true, with all the organizational products available, people would no longer be struggling with clutter.
