3 Decluttering Tips To Make You Feel Good

There’s nothing wrong with having clutter; what’s wrong is that it makes you feel bad. It bothers you - that’s what matters!

This is how you can declutter with ease and comfort:before you do anything, you have to feel motivated to make decluttering a priority to make the time to declutter.

Without this sequence, it's hard to do anything, even when you want to.

  1. Motivation: Your feeling better matters - it's a high priority.
  2. Priority: Taking better care of your home will make you feel better.
  3. Calendar: Schedule time over the next 4 weeks to attend to your intention.

3 Decluttering Tips To Make You Feel Good:

TIP #1:  Get rid of the clutter in your calendar! Let go of something that you don't like to do or really don't have to do. Then take that new-found time to regularly schedule decluttering times over the next month.

You want to feel better? Let go of clutter 15-minutes a day, every other day, or 1-2 hours a week. Your mood will lift! Take care of what’s easy, and put the rest to the side in one place. In truth, only 20% of your clutter is difficult to deal with. If it gets difficult, back off and return when you feel a little better.

Tip #2: You're never done clearing clutter as long as you are alive! But you can be done for the day, and make that enough. Return another day, and persevere in little bits - not all at once.

Practice non-force. Life is hard enough. Instead of forcing yourself to de-clutter, just be with your stuff. After all - it's just the stuff of your life. Do not attack your clutter or hate it; just be with it long enough to figure out what's best for you: keep, let go and how.

TIP #3: We all have clutter. Most clutter is stuff that you no longer love or use as your life changes. It is confusing, but it doesn't need to be. There's a lot of misconceptions about clutter, clutter-clearing and organizing.  it's a myth to think you should de-clutter alone. Whether you need a truck or a coach, all of us need help, especially in the beginning.

The biggest mistake people make when decluttering and organizing their home or desk is to do too much too fast. That strategy will only exhaust you, and why would you want to come back to do that? You'll lose your essential motivation.

You don't need to know all the answers before you start, but you need to start to find the answers.
